the object of my desire

I think it's about time to say goodbye to the Gateway laptop my Dad bought me my junior year of college. And hello to a MacBook Pro. If only I could afford one ...
I have avoided the new Apple store for fear of Laptop Lust. But this past weekend I wandered in with my friend Charlene (and new friends Bob, Josh, and Dave from NY), and became quite enamored with the new MacBook. I desire it.

i think you'd be happy with a macbook. i have the basic macbook and it does me good. and it'll save you a ton of cash. i doubt you'll be doing anything where you'll need the power of the pro. just fyi.

M has a MacBook Pro for work and it has caused me to sin on numerous occasions.

I think I am going to spend an obscene amount of money to stop sinning when I get paid for the second semester. Because I NEED IT for my design and photog stuff.

For those interested - look two places before you go to your local mac store: MacMall (on the web) or Mac's website - on their website, look on their list for a refurbished notebook.

Here's the thing - their list changes frequently. When we bought La's macbook pro, we saved something like $600 - they come with the same warranty as a new one and, as a coworker of mine said yesterday, "I like to know that a human hand actually touched my equipment" (he was talking about refurbished computers).

The latter is probably your safest and thriftiest bet. I also get a discount on Macs, but it's nothing close to what a refurb will be (also, you can purchase apple care with a refurb and extend your warranty a few years).
